Bread

Hi. My name is Harper, and I'm scared of yeast breads.

Hi, Harper.

No, I'm not literally scared of the breads themselves, I just can't quite bring myself to make them. But making one's own bread is healthier, cheaper, and tastier than buying it at the store. What's a girl to do?

Sometimes I do buy ready made bread. I usually buy organic, whole grain bread. It's more expensive than Wonder Bread (a lot more expensive), but it tastes really good. But usually it's just too expensive for me to justify the purchase.

As a result I usually make my bread at home from a quick bread recipe from Bob's Red Mill. You can find the recipe here, or on the back of their whole wheat flour bag : )

I make half a recipe at a time, and I use oat flour instead of wheat (why is another post). I find the oat flour makes a smoother batter and a less crumbly bread than whole wheat flour does. With so few ingredients, it's really quick and easy to make. It tastes good too. The only drawback is that I think it smells a little funny, but I can handle that. It holds up well for sandwiches and against cold butter. Problem solved.
